my wife wants this film as a chrizzie prezz. ive read the reviews and will get the movie. even tho i havent seen it i know i shall enjoy it if it has no swearing, blown up sex and violence, it strikes me as an old fashion movie where the strength of the actors and the language used carrys the story , so i shall enjoy watching it with my wife. besides only the brave would refuse- or the foolish.

It is a surprise this film was ever nominated for anything. The drivel presented is nothing more than a tradional hollywood bullshit story that any hack with a computer and microsoft word could pull off. I wish I could recalaim the time I took to watch this "tragedy".

Oh god, I saw the beginning and the ending, and all I can say i that it is a crapastic cliche of hollywood in this modern era. An extreme dissappointment can only be an understatement.

A great movie. Trite and similar yes but so are many people I know. This has no sex, no violence and no swearing. Only for true romantics who pull for the underdog. A wonderful film.

"Something's Gotta Give" is a rather apt comparison, yes. I did like it a bit better than "Nights in Rodanthe", though. Despite the flaws of the screenplay, I think "Last Chance Harvey" is a worthwhile rental just for Hoffman and Thompson.

Another great review Clark! You seem to be watching the movies that I want to see. I only knew about this film because they were both nominated for Golden Globes. Otherwise, it will be one of those movies that's at the theater for a week and then gone so I don't know if I'll find it playing near me. It's sad because it stars two of our finest actors, at the same time, it's a generic middle-aged romantic movie I'm thinking of Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson in Something's Gotta Give or Diane Lane and Richard Gere in that movie that came out last year. Oh well, I have to put this movie on my list to watch on DVD.

On a side note, I too, find social gatherings tiring especially among strangers or people I don't know well and trying to make small talk.
