I couldn't have felt more identified with Kate's role. It is probably not the case now in the U.S and Europe, but it is still the case in the third world, where women have been miseducated and mis- or uninformed of what marriage and motherhood are really like. In countries like Colombia, a woman can go to jail if she has an abortion, and to make it worse, you can see the most misleading advertisement about the "joy of being a mother" on tv. If the topic interests any of you, take a look at Corinne Maier's new book "no kid: 40 reasons to not be a parent".

Yes, "..going to Paris" was a metaphor for wanting something more out of life than being a wife and a mother. Most mothers and wives are quite familiar with this feeling whether they admit to it or not. Poignant and touching and telling movie.

the movie at first sight would seem to be a perfect touch of stupendous acting performance ,classy direction,a combination of emotional bankruptcy and sarcastic comments.they don't seem to share their problems nor discuss their problems in a pleasant manner, they want altercation.these great clashes create major part of the film and finally imparts heavy damage to their marriage and leading to physical loss of a character.it thus keep relevance with real life situation only superficially, infact people are not that wildish....The credits for the whole film can be shared by the two actors who makes the seens worthwhile to see.may be the direction was a bit of proactive ,which makes it a bookish novel afterall.

Revolutionary Road is like a bad ending to the 1994 Reality Bites anti-yuppie couple "Leliana and Troy" where Frank and April just departed from their utopian dreams of spontaneous liberating life. It turned out that family life is just too limiting for their ideals. Now, their marriage turned out to be their personal nightmare, where the woman gets pregnant, stays home while the man goes takes home the bread. The couple were aware of their ironic situation, and keeps on struggling not to be common neighborhood couples as they are perfectly becoming one. It is just saddening that they caught trapped in the series of circumstances, ending up unresolved and hopeless.

All this film did was encourage me to stay on the current path that I am on. That path is to not get married and have children until I am where I really want to be in my life and the same goes for the women that I will be married to. This movie is what you get when you deviate from your hopes and dreams. This film made me question how many people are really happy in their marriage. How many couples are living a lie? Who will stand up and I only got married and had children because everyone thought that I should? I think this film is a wake-up call to everyone even though it was set in the 1955. I recommend this film to all early to mid teens. I feel this film will help steer them in the right direction due to how unhappy both characters became.

Just a beautiful song about a free spirit that was bound to dreary obligations. Paris is just a symbolic icon about freedom, about forgoten dreams... in life. Let's not discuss whether she wanted to die or not as it is not the main point. Thing is she chose to get out, she chose feedom eventhough it meant a physical death.
Another interesting character that I like is the crazy son of the real estate lady. Sometimes during the movie I couldn't help but thinking he would be a better match to Aril than Frank.

I watched the movie yesterday and it was superb. It is in the same level of Benjamin Button and Reader but more descriptive the nature of our mind from all the character's perspective.Once I was with Frank and next time with April. Both are bad and both are good. But the theme seems to be that people love to be happy and like if things are happening in the way they like. All are selfish while all are helpless at times. The adding of the psychiatric character who understands the real thoughts in the Wheeler's make the theme very bright.
The end words from the house own lady is clearly describes how people change their mind for their benefit and how people can change their own words...............
quite brilliant.................

This film was a great film, I could somewhat relate to it being a mother and wife, however I couldn't choose who to stand by april or frank. I felt very sad for Frank in the end who ended up alone and a single father. However, i can understand how it feels to give up all your dreams for your children and husband. However it doesnt make her childish to get out, she didnt just want to go to paris, she said anywhere else she onluy said paris cuz frank loved paris basically to persuade him. Frank is an ass for cheating, I dont understand if she killed herself on purpose. Was she wanting to die or give herself an abortion to runaway or to commit suicide. I could see how much frank loved her , he always tried to comfort her however she was just so sour at times. My heart sunk to see his face when she was pronounced dead. If she was trying to kill herself why call the ambulence?

By the end of the movie I wanted to slap the wife. I have never found a character so repugnant, selfish and immature. The wife's problem was that she didn't want to grow up. She thought everyday should be a party. She didn't want to be a responsible adult. Her actions at the end were deplorable. Get a divorce if you're that unhappy and don't want to be a wife or mother. She referred to own child as a mistake! As for the movie itself it was over the top and not well done. 10 out 10? I couldn't disagree more.
