Looks like just another CGI f*ckfest, featuring characters that have familiar names. I'd love to be wrong.. i'm dyin' to be wrong. But a good star trek film was always equal parts action, intrigue and wonder, and character study. Leave out any of the three and it collapses. This trailer is obviously geared towards getting as many tickets sold as possible; I keep my fingers crossed that the wonder and character is contained in the actual film.

I'm having a hard time getting terribly enthusiastic after seeing this. Bits and pieces look kind of cool... but I'm quite skeptical about Chris Pine as Capt. Kirk. It may a tremendously entertaining movie, but nothing in that trailer made me particularly eager to see it.

I guess I'll kick off the inevitable debate that must ensue regarding any "Trek" thread:

The trailer was big, flashy, hip, and full of action...but is it really "Star Trek"? And does that even matter anymore? Is reinventing "Star Trek" for a wider audience better than no "Star Trek" at all?

Granted, it's only a 2-minute trailer, so the images could have been and most likely were cherry-picked for maximum titilation. But from what we've seen, and I quote, "this is not your father's 'Star Trek.'" So...who's for it, who's against it, and who's just "Meh..."?
